Week 1 of my “21 Day Exercise & No Alcohol Challenge” is done! √
I am so proud of myself for finishing out this past week strong. I worked out every single day for at least 30 minutes and did not drink any alcoholic beverages. Does it feel good? HELL YES. Was it easy? HELL NO.
As an entrepreneur + food blogger, my life consists of a lot of computer work (sitting) and eating (usually decadent food and lots of alcoholic beverages). So it is incredibly easy for me to go from my office chair straight to a bar stool at a local happy hour and forget all about working out.
This last week was definitely hard. I had forgotten that I had planned a “girls’ night” with my best friends on Thursday and Friday was a good friend’s going away party. So how did I deal with both?
GIRL’S NIGHT
These nights are usually filled with lots of snacks, gossip, and free flowing red wine. I LOVE WINE…
My Solution: I showed up to my girlfriend’s house with a unsweetened iced passion tea. I undulged in snacks and while they drank wine, I sipped on my 0 calorie tea. Having something to hold and drink while we chatted helped me forget that I wasn’t drinking wine and kept my hands occupied. Sweet!
FRIDAY NIGHT BAR HOPPING
I had invited my group of friends to pre-game at my house before we started bar hopping. People showed up with beer and an assortment of liquor bottles. This night was probably the hardest. It was tough getting a hard time from my friends for not drinking and then hanging out with them as they continuously cheered and took shots at my house.
My Solution: Playing DJ. Constantly rotating the music selection kept me busy enough to make people not notice that I wasn’t cheersing along with them. At the bar? I simply asked for water and no one seemed to notice.
Final Thoughts:
I feel great! I can’t believe 7 days went by so fast. The workouts have become part of my routine and it was so nice to wake up on the weekend without being hungover and actually have the energy to workout. My favorite part about the workouts is that they are only 30 minutes and theyre not too hard. This is very important to me righ tnow because them being on the easier side makes it easier for me to actually want to work out. I don’t feel scared to workout and that is helping me get into a good routine! My nutrition wasn’t as tight as it should be but… baby steps 🙂
I will hold off on revealing any lbs lost (if any!) until the end of the 21 days. Wish me luck.
Until next week!
XOXO,
Kimmy
